The leadership of NUTSA 2017/2018 administration led by Mr. Agboni, Nicholas Kelvin (National President) has organized a successful educational Programme (Quiz and Debate Competitions) among eleven Senior High Schools from the three Tongu Districts ( Central, North and South Tongu).
In a speech delivered by the President during the grand finale held at Adidome Senior High School – Central Tongu on Friday, 22nd June, 2018, he stated categorically that, the programme was organized to put competition among students, teachers etc. in order to improve upon the standard of Education in the Tongu Land. According to him, academic performance of students in Tongu is declining hence their annual educational Programme.
The President, Mr. Agboni, Nicholas Kelvin revealed that, the academic performance of students in WASSCE since 2012 to date is declining. He said this in line with the analysis made by the Union with reference to WASSCE results of students in Tongu Schools compiled by Mr. Ben Quarshie (Associate, NUTSA).
He (NUTSA President) therefore call on the three MPs, DCEs, District Directors of Education, Headmasters/Headmistresses, staff, Parents, the Minister for Education etc to contribute to the development of Education in the Tongu Land.
“I use this opportunity to call on the Government of Ghana to improve upon infrastructural development in Senior High Schools in Tongu to support the Free SHS Policy which was empowered on the three triangular phases ” Quality, Access and Equity.” Said by Mr. Agboni, Nicholas Kelvin (NUTSA President)
The NUTSA President also called on the Government of Ghana, all citizens of Tongu, associates etc to help establish tertiary institutions within the Districts.
The Union after the final competitions, identified two talents who are outstanding students in the Debate and Quiz Competitions for Scholarships.
Below are the students selected, Hannah Ofori (best student in debate), a form one students of Battor Senior High School offering General Science and Edwin Atobrah (best student in Quiz Competition), a form two students of Dorfor Senior High School offering General Science.

Battor Senior High School ➖ 52 points (3rd position)
Sogakope Senior High School and Dabala Senior High Technical School are the winners of NUTSA 2017/2018 inter Districts Quiz and Debate Competitions respectively.
